Free Education Law Strengthens Kogi’s Future - Governor Ododo’s Vision: Free Education for Kogi Residents

Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, recently emphasized that a law mandates the state government to ensure free education for all. In an insightful interview, he discussed the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and how various programs are significantly benefiting the people of Kogi State.
To begin with, Fanwo congratulated Governor Ododo on his Supreme Court victory. He highlighted the governor’s diplomatic approach, stating that Ododo has actively engaged with Kogites across party lines to foster unity and progress. “His olive branch extends to everyone, encouraging collaboration for the state’s development,” Fanwo explained. This inclusive approach aims to strengthen the community and advance the interests of all Kogites.
Moreover, the Commissioner noted the impressive number of projects initiated under the governor’s leadership. Out of 167 projects identified, approximately 70 have been completed, while others are ongoing. This strategic project distribution reflects the government’s commitment to equitable development across the three senatorial zones. “By prioritizing healthcare and education infrastructure, we address the needs of our citizens,” he stated.
Fanwo also addressed concerns about the previous zoning debates, asserting that Kogi’s focus has shifted from zoning discussions to performance-based leadership. “The governor’s administration prioritizes responsible and responsive governance,” he affirmed. This commitment to effective leadership ensures that the state’s development is the central concern.
In addition, the discussion touched on the ongoing free education initiatives, a key legacy of former Governor Yahaya Bello. Fanwo confirmed that the current administration is building on this foundation. “The law now mandates free education, including government-sponsored registrations for WAEC, NECO, and JAMB,” he stated, reinforcing the government’s dedication to improving educational outcomes.
Furthermore, the Commissioner highlighted the impressive N72,500 minimum wage established by Governor Ododo. He emphasized that trust and transparency are vital for maintaining this commitment amid economic challenges. “We are cutting down governance costs while ensuring the welfare of our workers,” Fanwo explained. He shared that this approach has fostered confidence among labor communities, leading to active support for the governor’s administration.
Additionally, Fanwo discussed the recent appointment of 574 Ward Special Assistants and 290 Local Government Special Assistants, emphasizing their role in enhancing community engagement. “This strategy ensures that assistants reside in their communities, facilitating direct communication between the government and citizens,” he added.
