Vice-President Kashim Shettima will deliver the keynote address at the second edition of the Africa Climate Forum (ACF) in Abuja. The event will take place from October 14 to 15, 2024.
The Global Centre for Law, Business and Economy (GCLBE), the forum’s organizers, announced that Shettima would be represented by Rukaiya el-Rufai, the special adviser to the president on the national executive council (NEC) and climate change.
With the theme “Africa’s Climate Future: Pathways from Dependence to Leadership,” the forum aims to facilitate high-level dialogue and knowledge exchange. It seeks to promote collaborative actions for sustainable development and climate resilience across Africa.
The forum will cover critical topics such as energy access, climate finance, green manufacturing, and gender inclusion in climate solutions.
George Nwangwu, director-general of GCLBE, commented on the forum’s timeliness. He stated, “The Africa Climate Forum 2024 comes at a crucial time when the continent must seize the opportunity to lead in sustainable development.”
He added, “We are excited to gather diverse stakeholders to address our shared climate challenges and drive actionable solutions that will benefit not just Africa but the world.”
Benjamin Mukoro, the forum’s coordinator, emphasized the event’s potential to build on last year’s successes. He remarked, “With the participation of key figures, we are confident that this event will catalyze significant progress in our collective climate goals.”
