Environmental Compliance for Manufacturers
Sustainable Waste Management

Environmental experts have called on manufacturers to adopt effective and sustainable waste management practices to safeguard the environment. Speaking at the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) dialogue session on September 17, 2024, in Lagos, the experts emphasized the critical role manufacturers play in protecting public health and promoting economic viability.
Dr. Innocent Barikor, Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), highlighted that proper industrial waste management is essential for sustainable development and environmental stewardship. He warned that improper waste disposal can harm human health, the environment, and businesses.
Dr. Leslie Adogame, Executive Director of Sustainable Research and Action for Environmental Development, urged manufacturers to implement zero-waste initiatives, use eco-friendly alternatives, and adopt modern waste-reduction techniques. He emphasized that sustainability should be integral to every manufacturer’s waste management plan.
Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director-General of MAN, called for collaboration between manufacturers and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with environmental standards. He noted that effective waste management not only helps protect the environment but also offers significant economic benefits through innovation and new technologies.
