Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has commenced the distribution of 25 trucks of fertilizer to farmers across the state. The launch event, held over the weekend in Lokoja, underscores his administration’s commitment to enhancing food production and boosting agricultural security in Kogi.
Governor Ododo highlighted the critical importance of fair distribution, urging against any form of diversion or exclusion of genuine farmers from the initiative. He reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the agricultural sector, describing the fertilizer distribution as a key component of his development strategy.
Emphasizing the role of agriculture in Nigeria’s economic recovery, Ododo pointed to Kogi State’s extensive land resources, plentiful water bodies, and strong political will as significant assets for agricultural investment. He directed that 50% of the fertilizer be allocated to farmers in the Ibaji and Bassa Local Government Areas, which are prominent for agricultural activities.
The governor also expressed continued support for genuine farmers and commended President Bola Tinubu for his efforts to stimulate Nigeria’s economy through agricultural incentives. Timothy Ojomah, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, praised Governor Ododo for his proactive approach, noting that this initiative positions Kogi State as a leading agricultural hub. George Ogirima, Managing Director of the Kogi State Agricultural Development Project, also highlighted how the federal government’s fertilizer provision supports the governor’s vision to transform the state’s agricultural landscape.
